As they say, "Rock stars never grow old they just go bald". I refuse to do either. Rock and Roll has been a part of my life since I joined the school band in the 5th grade. I knew I wanted to be a Ringo Starr and play in a rock band. Steve and I started our house band called "The Antagonizers". My mom came up with that as we were always antagonizing our three younger sisters! I bought my first drum and cymbal from money I earned going door to door selling flower seeds. We played for my folks friends. They were really proud of their little Rock Stars! We later started the band Circus. After playing my 7th grade Jr. High talent show, we became one of the best known high school bands in this area. Circus won every "battle of the bands" that was hosted. We played every teen center and school event for quite some time. We quickly became known everywhere as Rock Stars by our long hair and rock star cloths. At 14 and 16 we were even booked for larger venues where we pretend to be much older to be allowed in! Our dreams were coming true. Wow- those were the days... Playing music continues to be a part of our lives. I can no longer remember all the names of the bands. The memories of state fairs, street dances, colleges, barn dances, clubs and about a thousand weddings will live on forever!

"I'll never forget the street dance at the county fair in Rock Rapids Iowa. The band was V-8 Larry and the Power Glides. We were on a hay wagon with sound and lights as big as the Metrodome. The first time I hit my Kick, the bass nearly blew my heart out of my chest! That night was all about Rock and Roll"!

"A Saturday afternoon at Powderhorn Park. Playing the song Cottage Cheese by Crow. The song with a killer drum solo that I nailed to perfection. During the solo I looked up- The drummer from Crow standing in front of me. Our eyes met. His smile said it all"!

I am using this page to display images of anything to do with music. I wish I had photos from some of the hundreds of gigs. Talk about telling a story. Those would have said it all!!! This is an ongoing series that I will add to often. Please feel free to copy any images and please leave a comment to let us know what you think. Also visit www.therockersband.com for more info and photos... Enjoy, Dan
